“‘Right now it’s SNSD. In the future too, SNSD. Forever, SNSD.’ Spending an era together is very meaningful and that slogan of wanting to spend that era together in the present, future and forever is what remains the most in my memory. I think that will be the case in the future too” ( Yuri’s comment at SNSD’s 10th anniversary fan meeting in August)
Will SNSD be able to continue as a whole.
Last month, SM Entertainment reported that the contract with SNSD’s Sooyoung, Tiffany and Seohyun has expired. Which gathered a skeptical viewpoint towards SNSD’s activities and attention being focused on the members whose contracts have expired.
Sooyoung who expanded her range of activity into acting, has joined Daniel Henney’s agency Echo Global Group. Sooyoung has appeared recently in “Person You May Know” and “Man Who Sets The Table” and is establishing her position as an actress.
Echo. Global Group announced on the 10th that they have signed an exclusive contract with Sooyoung. They agency said “True to her reputation as Korea’s best artist, she is full of passion and talent for acting” and “We will not spare any kind of support”.
In particular, they said that if Sooyoung is allowed to promote with SNSD they will actively support it. It opened the possibility of SNSD’s activities later and gathered the attention of fans.
Seohyun is to set up a one man agency and is standing on her own.
On the 3rd, Seohyun revealed through her SNS that she decided to stand on her own after much concern and that she will take responsibility for her decision.
She also emphasized that she will do her best to be with her unnies whenever they need her as SNSD and that she will forever support and be with SNSD.
Tiffany is going back to America in order to study acting. Tiffany who is a native of San Francisco, California, is expected to focus on music and acting studying.
Last month while delivering the news of the 3 member not renewing their contracts, SM said “SNSD is not disbanding” and that they are members of a precious group to both fans and the agency and the members never thought about disbanding.
In particular, Sooyoung and Seohyun who left SM has shown their affection and will for SNSD’s activities and are gathering a positive outlook towards promoting as a whole in the future.
There are examples of “Separated then together again”. Senior groups shinhwa and GOD are representatives. Recently, although the members of Wanna One and JBJ have different agencies, group activities are being done simultaneously. If the wishes of SNSD’s fans and the members’ intentions come together, it’s worth to except activities as a whole.
The public also hopes to see SNSD as 8 on stage rather than 5. As much as they have been loved for 10 years as “The best girl group”, There’s much attention towards the development of their activities direction later and SNSD’s continuity as a whole group.
